Welcome to my blog, A Pocket Full of Wry.
Welcome to my blog: A Pocket Full of Wry. A few months ago, a friend of mine said she thought folks should pass along their kind thoughts about others before they die, rather than waiting to compose a eulogy after they are in the ground. “Well, then,” I replied. “What do you appreciate about me?” Without hesitation, she said, “I like your wry sense of doom.” She got me, right on the nose, and I’ve been thinking about that ever since. My friends see me as intense but/and funny. I enjoy incongruity and contrasts. I’m a keen observer of human nature. My spirituality is based on the presence of a loving Spirit in everyone and everything, no exception somehow, with the emphasis on somehow.
I love words. I luxuriate in the textures of fine writing as much as I nestle into the words on a note my young son left on the refrigerator door one summer day: “Ma, I made lomand for you.” I have written books on the spirituality of parenting, and journal articles on research, education, aging and healthcare. Now I have the luxury of time to indulge in reflection and the putting together of fine words that satisfy my soul… And, perhaps, a circle of friends who would like to share in this medium. Welcome to my blog.
